SOme breeders will claim that a Goldendoodle will never shed and that they Do NOT shed. This is erroneous information. The fact is, all Goldendoodles shed regardless of how many times it has been bred back to a poodle. THere will be breeders over the internet making false claims that a GOldendoodle is a hypo-allergenic dog that will never, ever shed. THen when someone falls for this notion and makes a goldendoodle purchase, they go inside of dog forums screaming and ranting and raving as to why their goldendoodle is "losing its coat". Your doodle is not losing its coat! Calm down! It is only shedding!
A Goldendoodle puppy will go through various shedding phases from the time it turns 3 weeks of age up until it is one year of age. Once the doodle turns into an adult, strands of hair will come out here and there but it will be much less than the hairs coming out as a puppy. TO further understand the coat of a Goldendoodle, just visit our website at

While the GOldendoodle has a low shedding coat, it will shed. It will shed its baby fuzz for the adult coat that is coming through. The coat of a Goldendoodle is silky soft as a young puppy....but it does tend to get a bit thicker as the dog ages. The Goldendoodle also has very low dander. This is why many people with allergies can do well with a doodle. Because the Goldendoodle goes through many coat phases the first year of life, you may have an allergy issue at one stage and no allergy issue during another stage. If you are someone who has allergies, the best place to start is with your allergist. A breeder can not guarantee that you can live happily ever after with a doodle. Once you own a doodle, no other breed will do.
